KEEP YOUR EYES HEALTHY WITH CONTACT LENSES-CONTACT LENSES ARE MEDICAL VISION CORRECTION DEVICES AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. NOT FOLLOWING THESE RECOMMENDATIONS WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO PAINFUL VISION LOSS.

•Always wash your hands with lotion free soap before applying or removing your contact lenses

•Rub gently to clean your lenses in the palm of your hand with solutions even when the solution says no rub

•Always clean by rubbing when you remove your lenses so the lens is clean when it goes in the case for overnight storage

•Use only fresh solutions and never top off old solutions

•Use fresh solutions, never expired solutions

•Do not allow the tip of the solution bottle to touch anything or it will get contaminated

•Clean your contact lens case each day with solution then leave the caps off to air dry the case during the day

•Replace your contact lens case every three months

•Never use tap water on your contact lenses

•Do not put your lenses in your mouth

•Everything in swimming pool water will get into your contact lenses so swim without contacts

•Replace your lenses on the schedule the doctor gives you to prevent pink eye and sight damaging corneal ulcers. Do not wait for your eyes to tell you it is time to change your lenses. We brush our teeth to prevent cavities and bleeding gum disease and bad breath. We do not wait until people comment on our breath or feel pain in our tooth to cause us to brush. Eye sight is a precious gift. Change your contact lenses to prevent symptoms not after you have symptoms. You will see better and feel better and stay healthy by following the doctors recommendations on your wearing schedule.

•A pair of disposable contact lenses typically costs about 5 to 10 dollars depending on the lens. If you are a contact lens abuser and have a problem such as a corneal ulcer or pink eye, a visit to the eye Dr. and a bottle of antibiotic eye drops will cost at least $175 dollars and often more.

•Generic solutions are more harsh on the eye and are not exactly the same as the name brands

•Do not sleep in your contact lenses unless the Doctor says that is OK and only for the length of time recommended by the Doctor. Never sleep in contact lenses for more than a week at a time but three days is better.
